Lilayi

Lilayi Lodge

Lilayi is set in a 600 hectare game farm just south of Lusaka. The habitat is original Miombo or Mungu woodland with open areas reverting to Acacia or Bauhenia.

This is home to many varieties of antelope from the ubiquitous Impala to Tsetsebe, Roan, Hartebeest and Waterbuck, as well as Giraffe, Zebra and Warthog amongst other animals.

The birdlife is prolific and over 300 species have been identified including woodland, wetland and grassland species, many raptors and a range of migrants. The early morning and evening bird calls from the Heuglin’s Robin, Turaco, Cuckoo, Guinea Fowl and Francolin are particularly delightful.
This wildlife and birdlife can be enjoyed on game drives, bush walks, horseback safaris or whilst having a meal or drink on the verandah.

The newly refurbished Lilayi offers 10 spacious deluxe and 2 family thatched chalets. These are all exquisitely furnished with luxurious bathrooms.

The restaurant and bar/lounge area opens onto a wrap-around verandah and sundowner deck, which overlooks the sparkling pool.

The restaurant offers a tantalizing marriage between African fusion and contemporary cuisine, with wine served from the in-house wine cellar.

Visitors to Lilayi also have the opportunity to visit the Elephant Orphanage Project located by the main entrance.

Activities include:

  • Game Drives – can be taken in the early mornings or late afternoons.
  • Horseback safaris provides a superb opportunity to view the animals from close proximity.
  • Walking Safaris – You can comfortably take a stroll anywhere through the Reserve.
  • Birding – There are 40 species of bird that are easily spotted within the reserve.
