Kafue River Camp

The Kafue River is one of the most beautiful rivers in Africa.

The river runs 900 km from its source, south of the border of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to where it merges its waters into the Zambezi river.

If one were to follow its intricate meanders, a boat trip would be almost 2000 km.

Our Kafue River Camp is situated in one of the most beautiful spots, on this already beautiful river, in one of Africa’s prime wildlife areas.

Complete freedom captures the spirit of this area.

The Kafue River Camp is situated in one of the most beautiful spots on one of the most beautiful rivers in Africa.

The camp is on the north bank of the river, opposite the Kafue National Park, in a game management area to the east of the confluence of the Kafue and Lunga rivers.

The area around the camp includes some of Africa’s prime wildlife areas.

Select, small groups and individuals have the opportunity to stay in catered comfort in the four luxury chalets at our camp. These are nestled under the splendid trees on the banks of the river.

Here they can enjoy game drives, walks and fishing activities or simply relax on the deck out over the river next to the thatched ‘Chitenge’.

Complete freedom captures the spirit of the Lunga area…

..and there is nothing closer to paradise than to wake in the pre-dawn darkness and listen to the clink of the kettle as the camp staff prepares the coffee and be greeted by the grunt of the hippo or the plethora of bird-song…

Black-eyed Bulbuls, Hadedas, Trumpeter Hornbills, Red-eyed and Ring-necked doves, Schallow’s Turaco, White fronted bee-eaters, Fish Eagles, Bou-Bou shrikes, Coppery-tailed coucals and crowned with the most beautiful bird call in the world, the creshendo of the Heuglins Robin…and more…

…a symphony of sound from the spectacular birdlife around camp.
