Mayukuyuku Camp

Mayukuyuku Camp is located on the banks of the Kafue River in a location that is probably one of the most picturesque spots in the whole park.

A prime site within the Kafue National Park. The camp is just 250 kilometres from the capital city of Lusaka, an easy four hour drive. We are open and accessible twelve months of the year.

The Kafue is one of the world’s largest game sanctuaries, about the size of Wales. It is well known for it’s extremely diverse variety of terrain, wildlife and birds – probably only second to Serengeti – and is still fairly unexplored to this day.

Four of the Big Five are here, plus Cheetah and Wild Dog, as well as over 450 species of birds. our are unlikely to see many other people or vehicles which gives a sensation of having a private safari.

The animals are sometimes more timid than in other more commercialized parks, but this makes your sightings all the more special.

We are located about 8 kilometres from the tar road, just east of the Kafue Hook Bridge. Our location means we can meet the needs of both International and local visitors whether they have transport of not.

Mayukuyuku is the ideal place to break a journey if travelling Westwards to the Barotse Plains, Liuwa National Park, or the famous Kuomboka Ceremony near Mongu.

Mayukuyku is on the southern edge of the Northern sector of the Park. It is ideally located to access both the North and South Kafue to such places as The Busanga or Nanzhila Plains.
