Sakazima Island Lodge

Sakazima Island Lodge is situated in the upper Zambezi river, approximately 150 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls and Livingstone.

At this point the Zambezi river flows over a basalt shelf known as the Ngambwe rapids and has formed a series of small islands interlinked with waterways, channels and lagoons.

The lodge nestles on a prominent island in this system. A large section of the river passes over rapids giving meanings to the name Sakazima – “Fire on water”. Sakazima offers you a unique bush experience.

The Lodge itself is built entirely of indigenous materials with an accent on comfort. The inherent rustic feel lends a unique atmosphere to the Lodge.

Timber walkways meander through the islands forest and interlink the chalets to the Main Unit. This unit comprises of a communal bar, dining room, lounge and open-air boma with a large viewing deck which overhangs the river.

The 7 en-suite double chalets allows for privacy and comfort. Each chalet has a private deck overlooking the channel system. This all combines to allow for a unique African wilderness experience in the luxury of an upmarket comfortable and safe environment on the Zambezi River.
