Nyika National Park

This is surely one of the most beautiful places in Africa – the Nyika plateau is a high altitude plateau with rolling green grassy hills, trout streams and teaming with antelope. There are huge herds of Zebra and the very rare Roan antelope.

Occasionally herds of elephant pass through. This is another place ideal for riding safaris. The park straddles the Zambia – Malawi border. The only lodge in the park is on the Malawi side and is very comfortable.

The open grassland habitat provides excellent viewing year round. It is home to many antelope notably large herds of Eland, Roan and also the rare Red Duiker & Bush Pigs. Leopards, Hyena & Jackal are the main predators.

Passing herds of elephant and the occasional pride of lions can also been seen. The lodge is on the Malawian side and comfortable with log fires in the evenings – year round ! This is a totally unique and unexpected part of Africa.

This is excellent country for Horse riding & walking safaris and also fly fishing. Sitting 2000 metres above sea level, the views from the plateau are spectacular and with dramatic cloud formations on the horizon.

Nyika is also famous for its tropical alpine flora, botanists & flower enthusiasts from around the world come to see it’s extraordinary plant life, many plants are unique to this plateau including a vast array of Orchids.
