A more beautiful, private and friendly place in Africa is hard to find.
Situated on the western bank of the great Zambezi River, Mutemwa Lodge caters for 12 guests in luxurious tented accommodation.
Your every need is met by a staff of 22. Each tent is atop a teak deck with patio, ensuring a stunning, completely private view of the Zambezi. Each guest suite has a full bathroom, and sleeps two in either single or luxury queen-size beds.
The central area of the thatched lodge consists of a fully stocked bar, indoor dining room and curio shop.
Most meals however are eaten “al fresco” around the huge campfire in the boma, or down on the beach.
Breakfast and lunch are often served on the lower deck overlooking the river, in the shade of the riverine forest. Meals are substantial and home cooked – with freshly caught local fish and game being popular choices.
Mutemwa Lodge offers a variety of activities such as fishing, birding, day trips to the Ngonye Falls, canoeing, sunset cruises, walks and cultural visits.
Or just let the peace and tranquillity of nature easy away city stress. Laze by our pool, or swim in the natural rock “jacuzzi” at Ngonye Falls. Trips to the Sioma N’gwezi NP can be arranged.
The river flowing past the lodge is generally shallow and broken by many forested islands and rapids. This ensures challenging fishing for both spin and fly anglers.
Mutemwa Lodge is the ideal holiday for the enthusiastic fisherman – both amateur or professional.
The renown Zambezi Tiger Fish is common to these waters, and tasty bream make good eating. In the spirit of conservation, the fish our guests catch are tagged and returned to the river. Mutemwa has a fly-fishing expert – Devan van der Merwe who is available to rig, fix, tie flies and give advice.
